Bridge Competition
The Requirements for the bridge contest:
1. The bridge must span a clear distance of two feet ten inches and have a maximum length of three feet.
2. The weight of the bridge should not exceed 240 grams. For every gram exceeding this limit the load carried by the structure will be reduced by 1%.
3. Craft sticks and glue are the only materials to be used in construction of the bridge.
4. The winners will be judged by the maximum load carried minus any reduction for overweight.
5. Each entry will be provided with a loading device, a 4"x 4" wood block
6. Glue may extend only ¼" from joints. The structure may not be "painted" with glue.
7. The structure must be simply supported
8. Bridges will be loaded at mid-span to failure.
